I finally added some updates. I figured I better do it now while I have some time before this baby comes.

I've been having contractions for the past couple of months and they are getting stronger.

He is measuring large, super large and I have an excess amount of amniotic fluid once again.

Which means I'm measuring larger than life and I have been asked if it's just one baby.

I've also been told that I'm huge, trust me I know I am.

I'm hoping he'll come early. It would be ideal for the rest of us if he showed up

sometime before Seth starts school (his last semester!!!)

Time will tell.

Merry Christmas

We're in Seattle this year for Christmas.

Christmas eve we opened new jammies and attempted to take a family picture.

Not everyone wanted to play along.

Seth recently discovered buckeye treats in honor of his Ohio roots,

so we started a new tradition of making some for Santa.

I think I woke up every hour on Christmas eve/morning.

Once seven o'clock hit and everyone was still sleeping,

I started waking people up.

Koper wanted nothing to do with me at that point and refused to get up.

At this point he was still hoping for a motorcycle,

when he realized it wasn't going to happen, he handled it very well.

Koper decided to join us.

The tent in the background was our homemade present this year.

Mom helped me put it together and did most of the sewing.

It fits over a card table.

Santa must have had too much eggnog when he

decided to give this bag of 100+ playland balls to Ivan.

I'm sure we'll end up taking a few less home.

This kid was pretty chill while everyone opened presents.

All he wanted was his jersey and bag of cereal.

We went to Woodbury's Tree Farm to get our tree again this year.

It took us a total of 30 seconds to pick it out, just the right amount of time for me.

Koper decided that his favorite blanket was one of my old ones from high school.

It was starting to fall apart and every time I washed it, we seemed to lose a little more of it.

I made him a new blanket using my old one as the middle.

I thought I was pretty smart when I finished his cake hours ahead of his party.

I made a pudding/cool whip frosting and apparently if you put

M&M's on it and then put it in the fridge for a couple of hours,

Lydia's friend, Margaret, saved the day with these batman capes.

The day before the ward trunk or treat, I decided to not be lame

and make my kids costumes. I bought the material and as I told Lydia about it,

Margaret offered to let the boys use these capes she had made for her boy's birthday party.

She ended up giving them to us and the boys love them!

This cape is one Aunt Brenda made for Kevin when he was little.

Koper did such a good job keeping Seth's presents a secret.

and just had to spill the beans.

He actually cried and wasn't so happy with me the first time he saw me hold her.

Weston's Birthday

Today is Weston's birthday

and he was so excited!!!

I actually liked shopping for him this year because he is actually 'into' things

and he loved his presents.

Koper loved Weston's presents too and tried to be patient

but it was hard.

He did manage to end the day with two presents of his own,

so maybe he shouldn't feel so bad...

I'm probably the one who should feel bad.

Weston requested a Batman cake but I wimped out and

printed a picture of Batman, taped it to a plastic spoon and stuck it in the cake.

My excuse...the frosting was too soft to pipe anything on.

The real excuse...I'm lazy...

I frosted it with chocolate pudding and cool whip frosting.

I highly recommend it.

So, we were in a rush this morning getting out the door so that we could be on time for church. Pretty typical really. Seth was working on finding Koper some church shoes that actually fit his feet and I was rushing a very sleepy Ivan into his church clothes because I had to wake him so we could go. Amongst all the chaos, Koper shared a little ray of sunshine with us all when he told Seth, "I'm so glad I chose you for my Dad, from Jesus." Just the other day I had read a little tidbit from someone about how just maybe our kids choose us as parents. Put the two 'coincidences' together and you better believe I was a pregnant pile of gooh. Add that to the wonderful morning I had watching Weston iron his church clothes and then without being asked, deciding to iron his brother's church clothes, and well, I guess you could say I am a grateful mom.

I'm grateful for Ivan too, even if he is learning how to hit and bite...

4th of July Fun

So, some of you may have seen these pictures on the 'net' already, but I thought I would share them here. We had an awesome 4th of July Backyard Breakfast at our place with some friends from the ward. We put together some games for the kids from our household supplies.

Ring Toss.

This was a last minute addition to the fun. Seth found some 'how to beat the carnies at their own games' videos on youtube and was inspired to make this contraption.

I couldn't keep from adding a touch of vinyl.

Getting the kids ready for the bike parade. We did it in the parking lot behind our house and managed to avoid major collisions.

We gave each kid a plate with a number to tie to their bike as they 'registered' for the parade.

If you look closely, you can see his Halloween socks. It was loads of fun and we will be doing it next year so you should all mark it on your calendars and come join the fun.

The boys and I have started a little garden.

We are trying our hand at sunflowers, cucumbers, and corn. Random, I know.

We will also try pumpkins and cantaloupe and a few herbs.

The only problem is, we have mold.

There's little white fuzzy stuff I am assuming is mold on most of the plants.

Does anyone know if this is a bad thing? I know mold isn't good.

But on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, how bad is it?

And, what can I do to get rid of it besides throwing everything out?

I've heard a little dish soap might do the trick.

I haven't tried it yet, we'll do that tomorrow.

For all you green thumbs out there, help.

Weston finally lost his first tooth!!!

It's been dangling in his mouth for months and finally fell out

while he was eating a burger from Wendy's on Saturday night.

Sometimes it's beneficial to eat Wendy's...

The Tooth Fairy left him a nice, crisp $1.00 bill.

We're trying to convince him to save his money for something nice,

but he keeps asking to go to the dollar store.

Sometimes he wants a toy for himself.

Other times, he wants to buy something for his brothers.

The other day he told me he wanted to save his dollar and buy something for our next baby.

I'm not pregnant, but it was a sweet gesture.

For the most part, Weston and Koper do a good job of entertaining each other. They have their moments and there is as much laughter as there are tears. Weston has learned lots of new things at Pre-K, mostly good, some interesting. He has learned to play well with others and occasionally, he'll throw out the "I'm not going to be your friend anymore" statement, which just bugs me.
While I was working on a project yesterday, Koper kept trying to get my attention and tell me that Weston was going to Grandma and Grandpa's. I figured he just wanted to go play at their house and humored him as he got his shoes and jacket on. I noticed Koper was getting more and more nervous as Weston walked out the front door. I finally asked him what was going on and he said something about Weston not wanting to be his brother anymore. Apparently, they had a little tiff and Weston told Koper he was leaving and going to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's. Koper thought he was losing Weston forever.

When Koper cries, it's mostly because he's frustrated that he has to go to timeout. Other than that, he can melt your heart and any trouble away, so real tears are not common. Yesterday, he was crying real tears at the thought of losing his brother. It was sad/cute/heart wrenching all at the same time. Because he doesn't cry all that often, Koper is sometimes startled when tears form in his eyes and drip down his cheeks. He wipes at them like he doesn't know what they are and gets a confused look on his face. Once again, sad/cute/heart wrenching...

I love all my kids equally, but seriously, where did Koper come from?

cucumber, mushrooms, lettuce, radishes.

All for $15.00!!!

I'm so excited for this program to come to Moscow!!!

It's so easy to do, go to bountifulbaskets.org

and order a basket between 11AM Monday - 11AM Tuesday.

You pay online and then pick your basket up on Saturday.

Currently, the site is in Pullman and we're close

to getting a site in Moscow!

The site is operated by volunteers and if you volunteer

you usually get to bring home extras!!!

If you are not in Moscow, there are sites in several different states.

If you can't tell, I love the program and we've only been doing it for a

couple of weeks! We've really enjoyed learning

what to do with the different items we get.

When you order a basket, you do not get to choose

what goes in it. So, you get to enjoy a little variety in your life!

Koper loves to do everything that Weston is doing. So, while Weston addressed his Valentine's to his preschool class, Koper got to do the same. It was fun to watch the boys work so hard at writing the names.

Weston's names were a little more legible than Koper's...

But Koper did a great job. He has the "O" down and is working on the "E". As long as the letters were all on the same card, I called it good. It's fun to watch them develop new skills.

My little Ivan turned 1 today!!!

I can't believe he's already one.

We had the family over for cake and ice cream tonight to celebrate.

Here's the evening in pictures.

The cake...I had high hopes for this cake, but in the end, this is the simplest version that ran through my head. I ran low on time and the chocolate frosting was too soft so it kind of melted together. My goal was to highlight Ivan and his hair, so I used this stick figure. If I had a little more time/energy, I would have loved to carve a stick figure cake. Maybe next year???

Extra cupcakes just in case the cake was a total flop.

The Birthday Boy!!!

He was starting to get the hang of opening presents. The only hard part was that he would open a present and then we would take it away so that he could open another one. Sorry kid.

This is how you know he is child #3. Huggies!!! (I couldn't be more excited!!!)

And this is what we gave him. I took Weston and Koper to the store yesterday to pick something out for him and the practical side of me just couldn't buy another toy. We have so many and he's only one. Besides, this is what he loves to play with. So, for a $3.97 we got him a set of measuring cups. We also got him two sets of those silver condiment cups. They were $0.97/set. Guess what his favorite toys were tonight??? (Besides the diaper box.)

So that last post took a turn for the worse that I never saw coming... To clear up any and all rumors, NO, I am not pregnant. Totally not pregnant. Here's what I was trying to say...

The chocolate bar: nicely perched on the shelf at eye level in my pantry, just waiting to be eaten. An "accident" my hips would truly not appreciate.

And the formula...while it may look like an innocent can of infant formula to some...

To me, it is a reason to celebrate!!!!

You see, this little guy is turning 1 next week!!!

Which means, that normal looking can of formula is the last can of ~~liquid gold~~ formula we will ever buy for our adorable child. I am looking forward to the $68.00 raise we will be receiving each month.

Did I mention that I am totally NOT pregnant???

Please stop the phone calls asking if we are expecting and I promise to be clear as day when we announce the next time we are actually having a baby. Take care.

This child has been potty-trained for almost a year. He does pretty well and occassionally has accidents when he plays too much and doesn't stop to use the bathroom. He had a rough day the other day. Three accidents right in a row. My sympathy was gone by the third one. So, while he was in the bathroom mopping up the floor and I was retrieving yet another pair of pants, I heard a thud and, "Mom, I fell..." in the cutest voice you've ever heard. A small amount of sympathy returned when I realized he had slipped in his own puddle, but mostly I laughed so hard I almost had an accident. Ah, the comedy of parenthood. What would you have done?

Big Ticket Christmas Item

Ok, so I don't know what everybody elses big ticket item was this christmas, but mine was the Waring Pro Food Slicer. Now let me explain, I have wanted my own meat/food slicer ever since I got home from my mission because just about every Slovene family has one on their counter and I would always get my meats, cheeses, and breads sliced at the store. I really had no clue that Lacey got this for me and I was really excited to get a big heavy box for christmas. I was a flood of emotions when I unwrapped it, mostly pure joy. Today I opened it and took it for its first test run. I was slicing anything I could. Lacey told me that anything I sliced had to be eaten, so I stuck to lunch items. I started with cheese slices for my breakfast burritos, awesome! Next, I sliced a tomato, logical! Then an orange, perfect! And last an apple, cool! The kids thought it was cool that the apple was in wheels rather than wedges and so we ate them. I felt like I wasted less food by having my food slicer than if I had used a kitchen knife, again awesome!!! I can't wait to buy a hunk of meat and just slice it up. Hail, to the Waring Pro Food Slicer, I highly reccomend you all get one. Yeah, I'm talking to you!

Our Christmas Tree

I forgot to mention that Koper can also sit on the barn due to its sure girth, quality, and durability.

We decided to get a real christmas tree this year. Our fake tree has been well worth the price we paid and been good but there is nothing like a real tree at christmas in the house. Our friends, the Woodburys, have a tree farm and trees over 10 feet were cheaper than trees under 10 feet. Well, we so happen to have a fairly high ceiling and decided to go big. A couple of weeks ago the whole family went to the Woodbury's tree farm and saw a lot of great trees and then we found ours. I cut it down dragged it to the truck, loaded it up and after a little pruning around the bottom it was in the house and decorated. In all it measured over 12 feet tall after it was cut down and trimmed.

The Christmas Barn

So, Lacey's grandpa built his sons a barn to play with, as you can imagine electronics were not the big ticket item that they are nowadays. Lacey decided that we should build one for the boys the week before christmas. The following pictures are the result of my countless hours and late nights of secrecy in the garage nailing, sanding, and painting.

The inside is so big that Koper can climb through the door openings and sit inside it and play.

Nativities around the World

The Nativities around the World event has become one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I love that so many people come together to put on this beautiful display. There are hundreds of nativities!!! It's awesome.

This year, I was able to help with the "We Believe..." room. This room highlights some of our major beliefs as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We believe in Christ.

We believe in modern prophets.

We believe that families can be eternal.

We believe the Bible and Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

There are other rooms at the display, but the dress-up manger room is my favorite. Look at that stable and all those costumes!!! You get to dress up as a family and have your picture taken as part of a real life nativity. They even email you the pictures!!! While we were setting up the We Believe room, Koper would walk by this room and get all excited and say, "Baby Jesus is coming to this room soon!!!" Sweet, huh?

There is also another room for younger kids to play in. It is set up to feel like a home with lots of little kid-proof nativities and activities. I would have taken a picture but my kids were at melt down stage and I had pushed them enough. They were troopers while I helped to set things up.

It is open to the public and I encourage everyone to go if you are in the Moscow area. It's at the Mormon church by the old Tidymans and Ford Dealership. It started last night and will go tonight and tomorrow night from 6-9pm. It is open on Saturday and Sunday from noon-9pm.

FINALLY!!! Pics of our New Baby!!!

So, we've been wanting to get a scooter for a long time, for me (Seth), to use for school since we only have one car now. After months of looking and deciding on old or new, we went with new and bought a Yamaha Zuma 125 from our local dealer who was very easy to work with and did not charge us all of the extra fees that other dealers wanted to charge. It has been very convenient and fun to ride. So far there has only been a couple of times that I have had to ride it in the rain but it has been okay. The kids really enjoy going for short rides on it too. Lacey is still trying to build up her riding confidence so that she can ride it too. I need to take her for a ride to show her how easy it is. So, life is crazy and I don't have much time to blog these days. Weston is loving preschool and is starting to read!!! It has been really fun to watch. I love to read and I have always tried to get him to just sit and read books for quiet time, but he hasn't been too interested. But now that he is starting to read, he'll actually do it. He loves to write words and figure how to spell them. As I work with him on different sounds the letters make it's a wonder that anyone ever learns to read. The english language has some crazy rules!
Koper is trying to keep up with Weston and when Weston isn't here, Koper usually finds some way to get himself in trouble. Earlier this summer while Seth was in Seattle, I was home with the kids for four weeks, without cable and no car (and we walked to school bare foot uphill both ways...) No seriously, we were without cable for ten weeks!!! But anyways, that's not the point. During that time I learned that as Koper's mother, I should never be too shocked at anything he does. He's a really fun kid, but he just seems to find little things to do that turn into big messes. The other day I ignored this fact and while chatting on the phone I walked into the kitchen to find a whole box of dish detergent poured out on the diswasher door and topped with liquid dish soap. I tried to clean it up the best I could, but towards the end, the best solution was to run a load. I didn't think there was much liquid soap left on the door, but there was enough to make a big pile of suds on our floor. Who knew... Later that day I picked Weston up from preschool and he had drawn all over his face... I probably should have washed it off before we went to the grocery store, but I didn't. I also let Koper wear his black church shoes without socks with his little running shorts and Weston's big t-shirt to the store. So, if you saw us, I do take care of my children occassionally, but I guess I've just gotten used to their craziness. I have turned into one of those moms...
The WSU craft fair is this Friday and Saturday!!! My friend Lydia will be joining me with her awesome Heritage Makers projects, so it should be tons of fun. If you're in the area you should come see us, we'll both have lots of fun projects that you can personalize as gifts for the holidays.
Next Monday, right after the craft fair I'll be going under the knife to have my gallbladder removed. It started bugging me a year ago when I was pregnant with Ivan. The tests finally showed that it was bad enough to remove when the semester started and I was trying to wait until Christmas break to have it done, but I can't wait. I'm done dealing with it. I'm a little nervous, I've never had surgery before but it shouldn't be too bad. My parents are here to help and Seth's mom is coming to help shuttle the kids around.

As I was opening the house up for the morning on Saturday, the leaves looked awesome as they were falling in the wind. By the time I got a chance to go take some pictures, the wind had stopped but I was able to get some other fun shots. Something about the morning reminded me of my visit to the Sacred Grove, maybe it was General Conference...what a great weekend.

We came home from dropping Weston off at preschool today (he gets to stay an extra hour today for a pizza party...love it!!!) and I unstrapped Ivan from his carseat to roll around and play while I started today's to-do list. Koper was yelling at me about something so I came back in the living room and found this. My thoughts exactly. I was so tired last night that while the kids ate dinner, I stretched out on the living room floor (not even the couch, but the floor...) for a few moments of quiet. I'm finding that the hours between 2 and 4 in the afternoon really drag around here and by the time I get to dinner I just want to put the kids away for the day, like little toys.

So, my question to you friends, what do you do to prevent the afternoon slump? How do you keep yourself off the living room floor?

We're home and getting ready for school. Seth will start his masters next week and Weston gets to start preschool soon. I am so excited. I was very hesitant to send him to preschool and was having a hard time finding one that I liked. But I finally did, and I am so excited for him!!! I can't wait for his first day!!! I'm probably more excited than he is.
But the biggest, craziest thing is the fact that I'll be joining Seth and Weston in their academic pursuits. A series of events and conversations have led Seth and I to decide that I should go back to school. Say what? Yep, I'll be working on my second bachelors degree, this time in nutrition. I know it's crazy, but we're going for it. The ultimate goal will be for Seth and I to team together and work with people as they train. Seth will do the fitness part and I will do the nutrition part. That's the ultimate goal with some stepping stones in between.
Because I already have a bachelors degree I won't need to complete the full bachelors program and will only have to do 32 credits. So, we're jumping in slow and I will probably only take one or two classes this semester so that we can figure out how to juggle everything.

But enough about that, the purpose of this post was to tell you about a great giveaway. Happy Fourth of July!!! We miss you!!! Weston was very excited for the fireworks until Mom started lighting them. That's right, Mom played pyro this year since you are in Seattle. Koper had the time of his life!!! While Weston sat on the chair with Grammy, Koper ran back and forth throwing pop-its with Grandpa. He even got to hold a sparkler. We couldn't wait for it to get dark, so we lit our fireworks and were done by 8:30. We hope you had fun in Seattle!!!

My original plan for Ivan's hair was to let it go until he turned one. But it has been so out of control lately. Everytime we go somewhere, little old ladies can't help but run their fingers through it. As a result, it gets really oily fast. Gross, huh????

So, I decided to cut it today. I didn't realize how long it was until I took the first picture. It looks a little choppy right now, but I'm going to let it be and then trim it a little each day to even it out. I was afraid if I did anymore he would lose it all. Plus, he slept through most of the cut. Once he woke up he was hungry and nothing more could be done at that point. So, his first cut came about 36 weeks early, but he needed it.

Our morning started off a little rocky... Koper has been doing very well with the potty training thing but he woke up soaking wet this morning. Of course, he denied that he was soaking wet (he denies everything right now...) but I made him get changed anyway. While I was getting his clothes ready, he peed on the floor. So into the shower he went and it was cold!!! Poor kid.
I have since escaped the chaos to check my email and blogs. As I write, Weston and Koper are flushing fish food down the toilet waiting for Weston's fish to come back. We flushed little Nemo over a year ago. He has the fish net ready and just asked for a bowl to put the fish in when it comes back.
My mom just sent me an email wishing us a happy anniversary. I totally forgot it was today. Happy Anniversary Seth, may the next six years be just as fun.

Bittersweet

This past week has been nothing but bittersweet. My grandpa's funeral was Monday morning and my whole family was here (except my sis-in-law Kelly.) The best part about funerals is that they bring people together. We haven't been together as a family for years and we were so close to having everyone with us this time.

My favorite event of the week was going to G & G's house and watching slides on their lawn while eating carmel popcorn one last time. My grandparents moved to Moscow in the early 90's and we developed a tradition of going to their house on Sunday evenings and watching slides from when they were little and our family reunions. This past Sunday we tacked a white sheet to the side of their house and my aunt made carmel corn. We had to watch the slides outside because our family is huge and we can't all fit inside the living room anymore.

My grandma passed away in 2000 shortly after I graduated from high school. A couple of months before she passed away her health rapidly declined and we had the opportunity of making her comfortable at home in her final days. It wasn't a fun process but I learned a lot of lessons from it. She was pretty special to me and I miss her a ton.

The past three weeks have been difficult. Three weeks ago, my grandpa went to a doctor's appointment and was sent to the hospital due to low oxygen levels. After a week in the hospital, he was taken to a nursing home. Less than a week later, he passed away. I hate nursing homes. Visiting my Grandpa the first time at the nursing home was terrible. He was such a strong man and to see him in that environment was heartbreaking. I told my family we had to get him out of there as soon as possible. I'm sure he felt the same way, but you would never have known it. He was such a trooper and never complained. I am grateful that he didn't have to endure it for very long.

Through everything that has happened, the biggest lesson I have learned is to rely on our Heavenly Father and to always listen to the promptings of the Spirit. Before my grandpa went into the hospital I had a feeling that I needed to stop in and see him. I almost didn't but I stopped by really quick to make sure he was okay and to see if he needed anything. Two days before he passed away I checked in on him at the nursing home and decided to visit him everyday. My mom and I went that next day with my boys and that was our last visit. He looked great and I am grateful that I can remember him from that last visit.

As we have celebrated his life this past week, we have also celebrated my grandma and their love for each other and our family. I know that they are together again. We have had many sweet experiences this week that have helped strengthen my testimony of the gospel. I know families can be together forever.

Seth and I will be moving during these next two weeks into my grandparent's home. I am so grateful for this opportunity. It is a huge blessing for our family. I am excited to see what experiences it will bring to our family. I know our Heavenly Father loves us and is just waiting to bless us.

Fragile

I went to bed feeling very fragile last night. I had taken Weston visiting teaching with me yesterday and while we were out, I received a message from my mom that my Grandpa was being transported to the hospital. He has been sick lately and things weren't going so well last night. So, after I got the message, Weston and I headed to the hospital to meet my parents. We stayed for a little bit but there wasn't much we could do and I needed to get home to feed Ivan.
After the kids were settled in bed and I was feeding Ivan, I started feeling very fragile. I reminded myself that I need to be patient with life and that the Lord knows exactly who I am and what I need.
While I was talking to myself...the song 'Hallelujah' came to my mind. I first heard this song during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics while I was getting the epidural and waiting for Ivan to arrive. It was no secret that I was super nervous about the epidural and when this song came on it brought me so much peace. I don't really understand the lyrics, they're a little out there for me, but the chorus is beautiful and very calming.
So last night, as I was feeling so fragile, this song came to mind again and brought that same peace. I realized even more so how much the Lord loves me. And that when you are feeling fragile there is no better place to be than in his hands.
My Grandpa passed away early this morning. He is in the hands of the Lord and with my sweet Grandma. I am so happy for him.

We are in the process of potty training Koper. We started from ground zero. I didn't want to have to use candy to get him to do his thing in the toilet, but that's what I've resorted to. Guess what? It's working!!!!! He gets candy for actually sitting on the toilet and then some more if he actually goes.
Of course Koper has an older brother who can not be left out. So, he gets candy if he cleans up his mess. Not exactly mother of the year material, but it works. Only problem is, Weston knows how to negotiate.

I know that this post is a little late but I just recently got an SD card for my phone and was able to transfer my pictures from my phone to my computer. As many of you may or may not know the Idaho VANDALS football team played in a little known bowl game called the Humanitarian Bowl played in Boise, Idaho at Bronco Stadium. I have been fortunate enough to be able to work with Vandal athletics in the strength and conditioning program. I got to go to the game and be on the sideline during the bowl game. During the season myself and the other strength coaches worked the sidelines of all the home games keeping the players from getting sideline penalties. Here are some pictures I took while in Boise and at the game.

Everyone rushed the field after we won! It was crazy and I was in the middle of it and then quickly got out of it before I got crushed by our fans.

In case you did not hear about this game it was voted the best and most exciting game of the 2009-2010 college football bowl season. The final score was IDAHO 43 - Bowling Green 42. We won by having a great kick return, then throwing about a fifty yard bomb to Preston Davis, then Max Komar caught the sliding goalline touchdown to put us at 41-42, then Coach Akey went for two instead of kicking the PAT for the tie and overtime, and then Preston Davis caught the 2-point conversion at the back of the endzone for the "W". And that folks is how you get noticed nationally and win a bowl game.

Well, yesterday we had two different appointments to attend. First we had Lacey's last non-stress test at the hospital and it went well. Later in the afternoon we met with our doctor and decided to be induced. The induction was scheduled for us to be at the hospital by 5:00 PM and then Dr. Richards would show up around 6:00 PM and administer the cervidil that would then dilate the cervix. By 9:30 PM Lacey was ready to go to the delivery room. At 10:30 PM the cervidil was removed and Lacey was progressing nicely. The epidural was administered around 11:30 PM and Lacey was...good! Around 12:50 AM the nurses then began to scurry because the baby was ready to go down the slip'n slide, if you know what I mean. Dr. Richards came rushing into the room threw off his coat, put on an apron, and Lacey pushed mightily and there he was Ivan Seth Jones in all his glory. Yes, that is his official name and Lacey really loves it!!!

Sorry to those of you who guessed that I would have this baby yesterday. Believe me, I wanted it to happen yesterday too. But since it hasn't happened yet, we're still plugging along with appointments and what not. This morning I had an ultrasound. Apparently, my fluid level has really gone down and is in the normal range, so that was good news. We talked the sonographer into measuring the baby for a rough estimate of how big he'll be. Hold your breath ladies and gents, because he's gonna be big. His head is measuring big and he is weighing in around 9.5 lbs. Keep in mind that the measurements are not exact and he could be a pound to a pound and a half smaller or LARGER!!! I just love all these unknowns...time will tell I guess.
We have a non-stress test in a couple of hours and I am hoping they'll just keep me and put me out of my misery. Probably not though. I've been having contractions all the time, but they don't seem to stick around throughout the night. Whenever I wake up and am not in pain from the contractions, I actually get a little bummed. The first thing Seth asks me in the morning is whether or not my water has broken and if I am still having contractions.
I'm hoping the good doc will induce me on Friday if nothing has happened before then. I really don't want to be induced, but how much bigger will this baby get??? I always wonder what effect the steroid shots had/will have on his size. Weston and Koper were big babies too, but is this one coming out a manchild?

Making Progress

I had an appointment today and apparently, the contractions are actually starting to do something. Things are starting to progress!!! When the doctor measured my belly to see how big my uterus has grown, I asked her how big I was because I knew I was at 40 weeks last week. She wouldn't say anything but "overdue..." We had a non-stress test later this afternoon and i asked the nurse for her prediction as to when this baby will be born. She thinks he'll be born within 48 hours of when the good doc returns home. He gets home tonight (Saturday.)
You may notice that it is very late as I type this, that's because I feel like crap and am wondering if I am going into labor. I keep telling my body it can't do anything until the good doc is actually within city limits.
But then again, I could hold out another week. What do you think??? When is this baby coming???

We had a couple of appointments today. The first was a non-stress test that went well. The second was a normal appointment with the good doc. We had an ultrasound and I'm still on the high side with fluid, but other than that things look good. I go off the medication on Thursday!!!

Baby Update

I have a couple of appointments tomorrow, so I'll have an update on the baby tomorrow. So far, so good. I now know what it means for your belly to shake like a "bowl full of jelly." During one of our non-stress tests this past week, I was all hooked up to the monitors and then Seth made me laugh for some reason and my belly started bouncing, which made me laugh harder, which made the monitors kind of freak out, which made me laugh harder, which made my belly jiggle even more, which made me laugh harder, etc. etc. It was pretty hilarious and painful at the same time. Too bad it didn't put me into labor.

banner flying high

Back in November, I accepted a job to create some banners for an immigration campaign that is being kicked off in Moscow. They ended up delaying their kick off to this next week which meant I got to create this 4 foot by 20 foot banner this past week. I also created a 4 foot by 6 foot banner that will hang in the Commons on campus this week. I appreciated the job and everything I learned from doing it, just not the timing. The large banner is hanging over Main Street at Friendship Square in Moscow.

Cardboard Boxes

I came home from a baby shower yesterday to find a clean house and the sound of Seth vacuuming. I also found this in the boy's room. They were keeping safe from the vacuum.

They both had a pillow in their box and toys to keep them company. Oh to be young and in love with cardboard boxes. Does anyone else remember refrigerator boxes, black sharpie pens, and Atari controllers? We made some pretty cool forts/flying machines back in the day.

We're down to fourteen days!!! No real updates, other than more contractions and steroids. No, I'm not trying to bulk up for the next strong man competition. They gave me two shots of steroids this past week in case the baby comes early. The steroids will help his lungs to develop faster/stronger, so that he'll be in better shape if he comes early. We have another stress test tomorrow, so hopefully that goes well.
Seth goes back to school next Wednesday and then we'll have one more week until we hit 36 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Waiting Game...

At the beginning of the month we found out I am measuring four weeks ahead of schedule with this little baby of ours. Normally, that would sound kind of exciting, thinking that the baby may come earlier than expected. However, measuring that far ahead could mean that something is going on. So, we had an ultrasound and found that I have too much amniotic fluid. The baby is measuring well (his head is a little big...but that's normal.) Too much amniotic fluid could signal a variety of things good and bad. The baby actually keeps the fluid in balance by drinking it and peeing it out. So, having too much could mean that there is something going on with his digestive system. Like I said though, it could be fine and it could be something else. Time will tell.
Because of the increase in fluid, I get to have non-stress tests every week where they monitor the baby and my uterus. I failed the first one because I was having contractions every four minutes. So they shot me up with some medicine and told me to rest. I now get to sit on the couch and let other people do things for me and not feel guilty about it (at least I'm not supposed to feel guilty about it...)
Seth went down to the Vandal game on Monday and was able to come home last night with the team. The boys and I stayed at my parent's house and they've been taking great care of us.
The Vandal game was awesome!!! It was also fun to see Seth on TV and he was in heaven on the sidelines.
So, for now we wait...I have three more weeks until I hit the safe zone of 36 weeks. Let's just hope I don't go over.

Merry Christmas

I have been so giddy for Christmas this year and it's almost here. Of course, I am not ready but have enjoyed the time leading up to Christmas. I am hoping to post some pictures (rather than send out last year's Christmas letter...) in the near future. Baby #3 is making sure that I slow down these days and I hope to have some time to blog. But for the time being, here's the skinny on us.

Seth - is still working with the Vandal football team and will be headed down to Boise next week for the Humanitarian Bowl for a couple of days. It was a crazy semester balancing school and volunteering in the Strength and Conditioning department, but it was well worth it. Seth has enjoyed his time with the athletes and we've enjoyed a few sporting events with the kids. Whenever Koper sees anything Vandal oriented he yells, "Go Vandals!"

Lacey- Vinyl is keeping me super busy and it's been fun meeting new customers and fans of strawberrypearl. I did my last craft fair the beginning of this month and now I am focusing on baby #3. Our next little boy is keeping us on our toes already. I've had a few issues along the way and we'll be grateful to hit the 36 week mark in four weeks and deliver this baby safely some time after that. Until then, I've been told to take it easy and let others do things for me... We have a fabulous support team of family and friends and are grateful to be here in Moscow at this time.

Weston and Koper - keep us laughing with their grown up statements and antics. They are very excited about Christmas and the snow!!! The best memory of this season has been Koper re-discovering snow. He does not remember it from last year and wasn't so sure about it at first. When it first started snowing, he laid down on his belly with his teddy bear tucked under his arm and pointed out the glass door at my parent's house asking his bear, "See the snow? See the snow?" It was adorable. My parents took us to Disney on Ice in Spokane a couple of weeks ago and Weston and Koper couldn't have been more mesmerized. It was awesome. Since then, Weston has been in love with Tinkerbell and more recently, Cinderella. I was getting a little worried that my son was watching Cinderella so much that he was starting to sing songs from the movie. I knew all was well and that we haven't warped him too much when he started adding such words as poop to the songs. He's still all boy!!!

I'll be going back to my roots tomorrow at the McDonald Elementary Holiday Craft Fair. Not only will strawberrypearl be there, but also cupcakes from the Cupcake Company!!!!

Doors open at 9am and close at 3pm!

Speaking of photography...I am looking for a great picture of the Timpanogos Temple. I've been wanting something to use with our wedding pictures and have really wanted to take one myself, but alas, that will not be happening anytime soon. So, does anyone know of or have a great picture of the Timpanogos Temple?

Kassy is doing a free giveaway over at Whetten Photography. We had the priviledge of working with Kassy awhile back and I have to say, she was able to capture some of the first family photos of us that I actually like!!! So, yeah for Kassy.

Happy Birthday Seth!

Seth celebrated his 30th birthday at the beginning of the month. We were hoping to have a big shin-dig to celebrate the big 3-0 but the Vandal game scheduled for that day was moved to an evening game because they televised it on ESPNU. So, because we didn't have a party, Melissa was kind enough to make this fabulous cake for Seth. It tasted as good as it looked. It was homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Box cake nothing. This was the real deal! I just so happen to love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Thanks Melissa.

We had several other parties with family and friends to ring in the big 3-0 so I think everyone else made up for Seth's lovely wife who didn't throw him a party.

Dru and Melissa brought a cake over for Seth's 30th birthday last night and since Seth was at the U of I game until late, we'll be eating the cake in an hour. So come on over to our place at Noon if you're in town!!!
